Roosevelt Elementary School is one of the most culturally diverse schools in the nation. However, the library collection did not reflect that diversity. Knowing that I did not have any extra money in the budget, I found a way to create a World Language collection that would reflect the school population. I sent a letter home with each student asking families to please buy books to donate to the school library whenever they travel out of the country. To date, books have been donated in Vietnamese, Russian, Greek, and French, with the promise of more variety to come.
